Are the specs of this computer OK for the latest games?

Are the specs of the following computer OK for the latest games? (It's a Dell XPS 420.)



Do you think I should upgrade/add or downgrade/remove anything? Trying to get the best perfermance with the least cost! And I'm sticking with Dell.



PROCESSOR Intel庐 Core鈩? Q6600 Quad-Core (8MB L2 cache,2.4GHz,1066FSB)



OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows Vista庐 Home Premium Edition



MEMORY 3GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz - 4 DIMMs (Should I upgrade to 4GB? Or stick with 3GB? Or downgrade to 3GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz?)



HARD DRIVE 500GB - Seagate 7200RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 16MB Cache



SOUND CARD Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music



GRAPHICS CARD 256MB nVidia GeForce 8600 GTS (Is this good enough? 512MB not available and 768 kinda expensive :/)



OPTICAL DRIVE Dual Drives: 48x Combo + 16x DVD+/-RW w/ dbl layer write capable

Well it's true what the answerer before me said about quad cores not being optimised by games. But think of it this way, you can play music, games and run an anti-virus scan and whatever else without slowing anything down.



If your operating system is going to be 32-bit then don't upgrade, 3GB is the best amount for it. It goes into very technical details but the bottom line is that your operating system will not recognise all of 4GB so at least half a gig to more than1 gig of that 4GB is never going to be used.
