and delete it if it exists.

Close the registry editor and reboot your computer.

Reboot into safe mode again, search for the userint.exe file and delete it from your computer, permanently, now check the registery again to make sure all mentions of userint.exe are gone then reboot into normal mode

Theres plenty of free programs out there to keep your computer clean. Avast and Avg for antivirus and then Spybot adaware and Avg Antispyware for any spyware issues.

Norton or live care are not some of the best of programs out there, especially norton is a killer on your system resources.

I believe this is spyware or malware. This happens to me alot because my grandson uses my computer and goes to sites like bearshare, game sites, ect.

You can go to twocows.com and download "Spybot, search and destroy" for free. I run it every day or two and it finds about a dozen items that have placed themselves on my computer giving it demands that cause the pop-ups.

I also have "Adaware" (not to be confused with adware) it works much the same as Spybot but each one catches things the other doesn't. So It's best to use both and run them regulary.

Don't let them run anything automaticaly it will drive you crazy, just run them manualy when you want to.

If you have Windows, set it to receive automatic updates and set your virus software, AVG, Norton, or whatever to automaticaly update.

This is the only way to keep your computer clean of junk like spyware, adware, and viruses.

And don't download everything just because it is "free". That's what gets you into trouble.

Here's a different approach. Try using Ubuntu Linux. Its totally free, and so is 99.9% of the software for linux. There are NO viruses for linux, which is why Mac OS X is based on linux. Its easy to use, and runs a lot like windows.
You need a Firewall, Anti-Virus and as many anti-spyware programs as you want. I use Zonealarm Pro but a friend uses the Comodo firewall which is free for life (apparently) and she rates it very highly. AVG do a free Anti-Virus too which has a great reputation. 224mg of Ram isn't really enough these days. You need a minimum of 512kb. Don't ever upgrade to XP or you will be in trouble. Just use AGG anti virus (free) and Download Spybot. With Spybot you can run it when your computer isn't busy.

What does the event log say - check the system log and application log. Get a diagnostic program that will boot from your computer and test the memory. This is probably the cause of freezing - also it could be CPU temp running to hot.

I am betting you're using a resource hog as an antivirus program...I'd guess you're using McAfee or Norton. If you are you're never going to speed up your computer until you remove these hogs from your system and install a good anti-virus that does not use up all your computer resources.

I suggest you use AVAST - http://www.avast.com/ it's free and it is very highly rated. But, if you're going to install a new anti-virus - uninstall the one you have now first - otherwise you could damage your operating system and neither anti-virus will work well.

keep your anti-spyware and anti-virus updated, + a firewall. also it would be good to ensure that the servers you are using w/ the transactions are encrypted, also would be a good idea to have verisign or some other phishing filter to ensure you are on a legit site. also common sense works wonders!

by the way, another tip is to not check "remember my password" on your pc, and use strong passwords and security questions with your accounts, and not to use the same passwords. change 'em regularly.

I downloaded the trial version of Kaspersky Labs antivirus 6.0. I was not satisfied with its functionality. Want to install another company's program instead, but must UNinstall Kaspersky first, natch. Can't. Not only that, but their online support requires the password just in order to contact them. (their phone support never answers, btw.) If you don't have administrator privelages, then you really shouldn't be trying to mess with that stuff. Contact the person who does have admin, and have him/her do it.

Otherwise I would say manually delete the program, but then you will have truckloads of registry errors to deal with.

You can save the original software on ur harddrive but, the updates..They're always available from the AV websites.

Go to your Documents Folder and, create a series of SAVE100,SAVE101, etc as a storage location for all programs you download. This makes it easier to find later..:)

I would also suggest that you get a "notebook" for writing down all license info, date of install, versions, etc for each new program you install on the puter..This makes it easier to re-install and, enter the info you need should have to re-install at a later date. Hope this helps some..

Anti-virus programs must be installed from scratch, unless you are using a full system backup. There are too many interconnections in the anti-virus program to allow it to monitor changes in the system. These are set when you run the install program.

As for the updates, you will only need one or two. The latest files will have everything that was in the earlier files. It will just take a little longer to load the full file, instead of the update file.

Those two programs won't conflict if you use the appropriate settings...

If you have an active subscription to Norton, make sure that it is up to date. If your subscription is over, then use RevoUninstaller to uninstall it. Then install AVG in its place. Regardless of which of these you do, then install ThreatFire.

You should also visit the Google Pack website in order to download Spyware Doctor for free.

I would also recommend that you use Mozilla's Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. Once it's installed, you should also install the Adblock Plus add-on. After it's been installed, it will ask you if you want to add certain premade lists. I find that instead of adding one, it's best to visit the homepage of EasyList, and add all three lists from there, instead of just one from the original menu.

If it's not on your desktop, at the bottom of your screen (Task Bar), look in C:. Windows xp has it's own security programs. Go to control panel, and look for Windows Security. Should be there if you have it.

I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. THE PROBLEM

I rebooted a couple of weeks ago, and then whenever I do anything that seems to have anything to do with connecting to the internet:

- IE and try to access google

- Firefox and try to access google

- Windows Media Player (9 or 10) and play a locally stored movie

(other things too that I can't remember)

it always says almost immediately, "[name of program] has encountered a problem and needs to close"

My workaround is to just move this dialog box off the edge of the screen, and carry on working as usual (surfing, watching the movie, etc) - and things work fine.

But it's very annoying to have this dialog box up all the time, and I can't click "Send" or "Don't Send" because then the application closes.

Before reinstalling your computer (a drastic step!) could you go into Control Panel and access Event Viewer and check the Error Log to see what it says is happening when you try to access the 3 programs you have mentioned? If it has the same error message in each case, could you come back here and add details of the error message to your question please?

I use NOD32 and when I scanned the system, there was indeed a virus called Love Letter in my Windows32 folder, originating from yahoo login url. What's going on here? If your NOD32 is up to date, start your system in safe mode, and run a full system scan, because with the virus is running in the system32, you will have more chance removing it, this is a password stealer and needs to be removed, if after it does find it and removes it, then go to the symantec site, if you type "love letter" in their search box, it should come up with a fix tool, this is worth getting as well, and running it in safe mode, as this will remove any left over registry entries belonging to this virus
I would just run your anti spyware program scan, identify the culptit, and get rid of it. I don't think it's a virus. Sites like LoveLetter usually let in spyware. This could also be a trojan " worm ". Go to this link for help :

You should check for spyware as well! Try Addaware removal from lavasoft! Depends what antivirus you installed...
If the computer can still connect to the internet, reboot into safemode with networking (tapping F8 during initial boot), log in with the admin account, Download Ewido (good at removing trojans) Spybot S%26D (good for removing spyware and browser hijackers) and once scans are completed with those follow it up with a scan from Trend micros house call (scans for viruses and spyware).

My computer has a keylogger and I cannot fix it!?

I downloaded Shield Deluxe 2007 and it notified I had a keylogger. Not knowing what it was, I accidentally clicked to ignore all keyloggers. Whenever my antivirus software detects a keylogger, it does not give me the option to terminate it.

It only gives me an option to allow it. I tried to go back in my reports, etc. to see if I can find where I can disable that action, but I cannot find it. I also tried to uninstall the program to start over, but the program says I do not have the necessary permission to uninstall it (???!!).

Welcome to the life of HP. What I would do is completely wipe the hard drive and start over. Of course you will lose everything, but looking like you have lost it anyways. Even if you get everything back, I can't guarantee that will fix all your problems. Sudden freezing up could be a few things. One is a bad motherboard or bad RAM.

Try to remove your CD Rom drive and boot it up again and see if it make any difference.

Avast, when virus found, has the option to 'restart PC and scan' , this option I think is on the bottom left of the warning screen when virus is found.

First you will want to disable system restore (and then once cleaned you can re-enable system restore and create a clean restore point - do this so as not to reinfect yourself later).

I would also close out of any programs running, background programs, etc... ctrl+alt+del (once) %26gt;%26gt; task manager %26gt;%26gt; highlight and end task on all but your antivirus and needed services (if not sure leave em alone).

Probably almost 5 hours, yea, i'm messy.
Well it depends on how many total files your computer has.My computer has about 6,000 files and it takes about 20-30 min useing Mcafree.
