Basically somethign that is in a antivirus chest is basically like a sick person being kept away from others by being in a differnt room at the same point the file then becomes "un\usable" and could damage other parts of your system because of its unavailabe function so it depends what kind of file it is too. Now deleting it could be a good thing but like i said it depends because sometimes system files thare are needed to run your omputer get affected and could be bad if you were to delete it so you would have to check it out specifically.

the 'anti-virus chest', 'quarantine area' and so forth, simply leave the file on your computer, but don't allow access, so that you can tell if your computer can still operate well. if the file is indeed a required file, you can 'unquarantine' it so that your computer can resume norman function.
