Spware/Virus Issue?

The background of my computer changed to a red advertisement saying, "Your privacy is in danger. Download privacy protection software now." I couldn't remove it until I ran several spyware and antivirus scans, but now its just a white background. I cant right click to create new folders. When i change the background nothing happens. Please help

If you have Spybot, schedule it to run a scan on restart, then reboot the Pc.

The base of your problem appears to be the ad. I suggest downloading Firefox and the extension Ad-Block Plus. Find both here:

Once installed, the extension allows you to block ads from appearing. To block the ad, right click on the ad and click ad-block. There might also be a block button on the side of the ad which you can click. Then click add filter and OK. You may also want to install this pop-up blocker for added protection:

I use AVG, Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy. It is always good to have a mixture of programs because while none are perfect, you can keep your system clean with a few. The ones I use are all free.
