Recommendation for low-overhead/low-impact security solution for Windows 2K Pro?

Looking for a software solution that will not make system unstable. Have had bad experience with Norton, ZoneAlarm, %26 Panda. Does not have to be all-in-one solution just want a program or programs to do basic firewall %26 antivirus.

In regards to the above mentioned programs, Norton has a really bad rep for home software solutions, I've tried Zone Alarm for many years and it's always been unstable for me, and I installed the newest Panda Titanium on this particular computer and it caused the PC to crash several times a day. Once Panda was removed, the PC worked fine.

I'm a Panda person too, and I had some problems with the new 2006 version of Panda Titanium as well. I uninstalled it and my computer was working fine.

After that, I installed Computer Associate's EZAnti-Virus, available at http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/ . The reason I chose it is because they're given away a free year of their program to home users to try out.

The EZAnti-Virus is very user friendly, updates automatically, and seems to be bug free. Zone Alarm actually goes really well with EZ because Zone Alarm is based on the CA Personal Firewall!

Other then that, for a completely free program you won't have to buy after one year, you could get avast! from http://www.avast.com , which is a great program, currently up for a 2006 award for the best anti-virus solution.

Hope this helps and good luck.

The best antivirus is nod32, it uses 2-10 megabytes of ram depending on how you have it set up.

The best way to have a firewall is to get a router, there is virtually no overhead for a router and its hardware, which means tha tit cant be turned off by spyware and viruses.
try avg software, its free and you can upgrade if you like it
