Nortan Antivirus 2003-2006,Also a linskys wireless internet adapter.

I have been wondering this because i have an HP labtop that runs on WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL.and my Father said I can't get a Wireless Internet adapter till i get some software for internet protection.So how much usually and any discounts sites or something where i can find BRAND NEW software.i can buy the adapter at Walmart.Links would be helpful

If you're concerned about your computer's security, just buy a wireless router. I have never bothered installing my subscription to Norton that came with both computers, and I've never had a virus in the last 4 years of having a router.

If you're concerned about downloading viruses, then yeah it doesn't hurt to have Norton or AVG, but if you're concerned about being hacked, routers typically block that. My dad's work computer has a program that detects when people are trying to access him through the net, and when we were running off only the modem it was getting constant hits. After we bought the router, none.

That would be my advise, avoid the risk pretty much altogether. You won't be entirely immune but you shouldn't have any issues.
