My PC starts up slow, have several programs that starts up with it how do I turn these programs off?

I noticed on the task bar that I have several programs like Quiktime, printer software and antivirus starting up all at the same time. I've reduced my icons on the desktop and about to defrag right now, please help

Simple.

Click

1. start

2. run

3. type 'msconfig' in the small box in the right hand side of the screen

4. Click on the 'start up' tab

5. unclick the boxes you don't want to start when you turn on your comp

6. click on apply then ok

6. reboot your comp

7. when it reboots, click the little box on the left

I found that downloading windows startup inspector and running it lets you select what programs to startup on your computer. This is probably the easiest.
from you start menu - select "run" and in the box that opens type

MSCONFIG

This will allow you to select what programs start when the computer boots. (select the "startup" tab)
just disable the startup programs by clicking start, go to run,click run,type msconfig,click ok,click to startup,click disable all,click apply,and when you restart the computer just check the box that says dont show on startup.

if you have win 98 go to run type in msconfig. click on the startup bar and uncheck only the things u know that u don't want opened. if u don't know what it is leave it alone. if u have win xp go to the startup menu and also many programs have prefrences where u can change it to where it will not start when windows starts.
