How to fix computer keyboard difficulties?

I have a laptop which recently has started to show words reading backwards or jumbled when I am typing.

I have went through control panel, keyboards, and ran a troubleshoot on keyboard but it tells me all ok.

Does anyone know what could be the issue and have any advice on what I could try to resolve this?

I am thinking maybe a virus but my software antivirus is all functioning as should be!

You most likely have a faulty keyboard. This can occur because of a loose ribbon cable. The ribbon cable joins the keyboard panel to the motherboard (main circuit board) inside the laptop.

On a laptop, the keyboard is usually a removable panel and therefore replaceable, but would be difficult to replace if you have never done it before because it involves opening the laptop. If the checks outlined below point to a hardware problem then you could ask someone else to do this for you.

The best thing to do is to borrow a spare keyboard from somewhere. Depending on what type of connection the keyboard uses (USB or PS2) you should be able to plug an external keyboard into your laptop.

SOFTWARE PROBLEM?

If the laptop continues to function in the way you describe when typing on the external keyboard you can safely say that there is a software problem, such as a problem with the keyboard drivers or some other setting in Windows.
