My serial is correct but it says serial invalid when I try to activate. Any software to solve this?

Could mean that you're inputting it slightly wrong, or that the serial is already in use (thanks to some keygens out there that create serial numbers for nefarious people). You probably need to contact the company if it's the latter, and once you prove valid ownership, they'll issue a new one.

Those of you who are using this software- Lets say you come across a trojan, worm , malware or some other sort of virus- it says you are suppose to move it to the chest. what is that? is it not safer to delete these files instead?

i would use avg anti virus instead but if you have less ram and hard disk space i would download ewido anti-spyware microscanner - that detects for trojans, worms, spyware, ad aware etc.., and its not even 1mb, its less. its portable to use.
Moving it to the chest will sort of de-activate the virus, which is better than deleting the whole file, in some cases, like when a system file is infected, and you couldn't delete it, Avast moves it to the chest, where the virus will be monitored.

Of course, if the file infected isn't a system file, it's okay to delete it.

first let me tell u what is chest-

Chest can be thought as a special folder on your computer that is safe and isolated, which makes it a suitable place for storing specific files...u can still work with it...

i would recommend.only important files to movie into chest....while others should be deleted..!!

In the chest its safe (it cant do any harm) and it allows you the option of restoring it if you find your system reacting badly to it being removed, although if it isn't a system critical file and your computer operates fine without it you can delete it from the chest but I would wait for a few weeks before fully deleting it just to be safe

AVG Antivirus Updates?

On the free avg updates will it just update the virus definitions (sorry if i spelt that wrong) or will it update the program -- example could it update the software from 7.5 to 7.6 or would i have to do this manualy like avast. p.s i know 7.6 is not out.

All it updates are the definitions. You have to manually update the software, why would you want that done automatically? What if it crashed your machine on install?

If you want to retain that worm just to install your webcam, just disable you anti-virus first then proceed with the installation of the webcam. Maybe the driver of the webcam is embedded with a worm. if you want, you can fix the worm then proceed with the installation.

Win Antivirus pro popups?

For the past two days I have been getting popups from this winanitvirus pro. Does anyone know how this adware gets attached to the computer? By a downloaded program or visiting a website? How do I remove this, without downloading software? As far as deleting the registry entry; if anyone knows what entry it would be under in the registry.

BTW I have Norton Internet security and McAfee installed and neither one notified me of anything.

Any help is appreciated.

I believe you should allow only 2 security applications to run on start-up. A professional firewall and an anti-spyware would be suitable for those positions since spywares and adwares are more common than virus, which occupies only 15% of malware infections according to my sources. However, if you prefer high security compared to only a slight reduction of start-up speed then let your anti-virus be the third application. Personally, Avira AV, Comodo Pro + Spyware Terminator are the three programs that are on my Vista start-up list and they haven't caused any conflicts whatsoever.

G'day Kathy. If you are using a FREE anti-virus then you should update every day or every time you start the PC. If you have paid for a good anti-virus or security program it should notify you every time you go online that it has just updated itself. There should be an icon on your taskbar near the clock and when you click Start-%26gt;Programs, it should be listed on the Program menu. If you cannot find them you may be using Microsoft Security which is updated when they remember. If you type in Anti Virus in the search menu at the top of the page it will give you heaps of free anti virus and spyware places. I won't type them here as I may be on the wrong trail.
That's a personal preference. After being in the industry for more years than I'd like...In regards to viruses, I only scan about once a month. I keep my virus definitions up to date and keep an eye out for suspicious activity. Most virus scanners will automatically scan e-mails and that is currently the primary source of virus attacks.

However, in regards to spy-ware, I don't think a user can scan enough these days. There is no perfect spy-ware scanner on the market, nor anything close in my professional opinion. I use multiple spy-ware programs (Spybot 1.5, Windows Defender, and PC Tools Threatfire) and scan often (at least three times a week). I let my scheduler handle it though. I don't do manual scans.
